Mental Health Matters Month Brings Community Together
The Power of Kevin Hine’s Story
On May 29, nearly 400 community members came together to join Healthy KP Substance Use Prevention Coalition, the Hockomock Area YMCA, and SAFE Coalition in welcoming award-winning speaker, author, suicide prevention and mental health advocate Kevin Hines to Gillette Stadium.
To describe Kevin Hine’s “Be Here Tomorrow” presentation as moving is an understatement. Kevin’s experiences with mental health, and the impact his suicide attempt has had on his life and the lives of countless others, served as a catalyst for heartfelt acknowledgement and open dialogue about still-too taboo conversations. Together, our community shared tears of grief and joy as we engaged in a cathartic reminder that none of us are truly alone and tomorrow is another opportunity to show up for ourselves and one another.
Interested in Continuing the Conversation?
We could not pull off an event like this without the support of our growing coalition. Together with parents, community leaders, school personnel, and students, our staff members design engaging programming to educate about and mitigate substance use. If you are interested in getting involved, please fill in the form at the link below and we will be sure to connect soon!
