Upcoming Events You Won't Want to Miss
Back to School Social
Mark your calendar for this year’s Back to School Social which will be hosted on Wednesday, August 28 from 6 pm - 8 pm at the KP High School Field House! This event is open to students of KP High School and their families!
To begin the event the King Philip Sports Boosters will kick off our Family Meals Matter Month by providing dinner, free of charge, for all attendees! Dinner will be hot dogs, hamburgers, & a variety of chip options! Dinner will be served from 6-6:30, and the social activities will follow.
The social portion of the event will consist of youth being welcomed into the field house for a community building event. What better way to get back into the school year than an opportunity to connect with their peers over fun, games, and prizes! Healthy KP will have various fun activities and games including the fatal vision goggle activity that supports youth in understanding the dangers of intoxication. We will also have a Mario Kart tournament with prizes, music, & more!
There will also be a resource fair area (18+) where parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to learn about Healthy KP, meet the KPHS administration team, and connect with our educators. We ask that all non-high school aged children be accompanied by high-school aged chaperones, who will be responsible for them during the fieldhouse event, as there are activities and conversations exclusively for adults that are not appropriate for younger audiences. Parents and caregivers will engage in the Hidden In Plain Sight Exhibit, which informs participants about substances commonly misused by teenagers and ways to conduct productive conversations around wellness, followed by a discussion about social host laws and liability with Lt. Jim Barrett. Also, a variety of community mental health and wellness resources that support the KP community will be present.
This event is 100% FREE to attend, but we ask that you register at this link so we know how much food to make! https://forms.gle/qZJcavoDsBN1a4mn7
International Overdose Awareness Day Vigil and Social
Saturday, August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day. To commemorate the lives of those lost to overdoses, Healthy KP is partnering with SAFE Coalition and community members from Wrentham, Norfolk, and Plainville to host a vigil on the Wrentham Town Common followed by an opportunity for a community meal and connection at the Proctor Mansion Inn’s Carriage House (just across the street from the town common).
In 2023, there were 2125 overdose related deaths in Massachusetts alone, and our vision is to honor those who have been lost to overdose and build a community of support and connection for those that have been impacted by an overdose loss. Join us as we honor those we’ve lost and uplift those who have been impacted by overdose on 8/31 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm at the Wrentham Town Common and Proctor Mansion Inn. Members of the community, spiritual leaders, and educators will commune to honor this sacred space. This is a free event, but we would appreciate your registration. https://forms.gle/HUcTCNiXvmrrodVZ6
